Auto diff in a Manual

How does a R180 from a auto (if thats right) run in a manual (R200) 260Z?

Is it done? What do you do to get the speedo reading correctly again?

From what I have been told bout my car (never pulled it personally) they had to use a 280 gearbox to match up to the 3.5 auto dif when the manual converson was done.

 

I am sure it retained that dif because is used to tick over at 26-2700rpm @ 70mph in top.

If the ratios differ, which they probly do,

need to match the right colour speedo gear in the g/box, its this gear that is suited to the different diff ratis not the box itself, not too hard to chabge either.

As I remember it you can pull out the speedo drive gear without too much truoble, retained by a small keeper plate. Any idea how you work out what the correct one to put in?

i had an old link that shows what ratio goes with what colour #of teeth goes whith what.

Speedo Gears:

3.36 : Yellow - 16 tooth

3.545 : Black - 17 tooth

3.7 : Blue - 18 tooth

3.9 : White - 19 tooth

The following rear gear ratios were only available from Nissan Competition Dept. - not OE in any models sold in the US

4.11 : Red - 20 tooth

4.38 : Purple - 21 tooth
