Bless my little clock on the dash. For 39 years those hands have been going around but they must be getting heavier as it's starting to loose time, Back to the Future style. Is there any adjustment on the back of the unit, and how hard is it to get to if so?

I have a calender clock in my 240z and there is an adjustment 'pot' in the back of the gauge(has a little hole with a +-) I assume the standard clock is the same. I'd suggest removing the gauge and testing it for a couple of days once you make the adjustment as they are quite touchy and it's fairly tight under the dash.

at least if it stops, it'll still be right twice a day....

On a side note, from what i have read around the place, most clocks fail over time due to a general crud buildup inside.

Perhaps it may be worth a careful disassemble and clean, if your up to it?

Easy to adjust, there's a screw in the back under a little plastic cover.

A spare clock in my parts box is marked with S and F - slow and fast I guess!

You might be able to reach in with a jewelers screwdriver while the clock's still in the dash if you have really small hands! It'll take a few adjustments to get right again though.

Thanks for the pic. Unfortunately, I have hands that could span the harbour bridge so looks like it'll have to wait until all of the things needing the dash removal have their day in the sun.

Hey Wildy,

Youve got a 240 right??

Simply remove the center fascia. To do this undo the screws on the front then pull it forward as much as you can. Then there are 4 screws holding the cable mechanism onto the fascia, remove these and voila the fascia is off.

Then its very simple, remove the gauge bracket (1 screw), disconnect the clock and its out.

Cheers,

Ben
