53-681 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) Hey Guyz, My legitimate name is Sam and I've recently purchased a datsun 260z 2+2. I've always wanted to purchase a Z ever since seeing my old man's mechanic's one since I was a child... He had a dark blue 240Z and that thing flew like a rocket... His name was Con, and he was the best mechanic we had ever encountered, but suddenly we lost in contact with him and he just vanished... During my teen hood, I found myself in love with Holden Kingswood's, no doubt I had mistaken these ride's as Zed's, since I didn't know much about car's during childhood. Until, during my TAFE years, I encountered a life long precious friend who so happens to be a datsun/drift enthusiast. He owns a 1600 himself. He one day sent me a link on youtube to an anime called "Wangan Midnight" in my childhood memories of Con and his blue Z flashed before my eyes! I have wanted to own a Z since (A 2 seater naturally), but I have finally afforded to purchase and have; an orange 260z 2+2 which requires a shitlod of work, but hey; so did the one in Wangan My car has yet to arrive and it will hopefully by the end of this week! Hopefully you guys here on this forum understand my yearning, and will assist me a great deal as I can't do all this myself! Currently, I require -A new Grill (and wouldn't mind a front air dam ) -Lots of rust needs to be removed from both the rear quarter panels -Needs new brake master cylinder -Needs new headlights How much $$$ you guys reckon it needs to fix all these issues/necessities? Later on down the track, I will also re-paint the car midnight blue, and an engine conversion to a twin turbo L28 bored to 3.1 nah nah, just an RB25 will be the bomb I hope you enjoyed this thread, hope to hear positive feedback Edited August 7, 2021 by 53-681 Privacy Quote
620Z Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Welcome Sam, well I reckon you will need around 10K to fix your rust. But I know you don't want to hear that so shop around and you might find someone keen to do it on the cheap. Oh and another 10K to get the car to where you want it. Don't worry we are all in the same boat. Most of our Zeds are works in progress. We have a meeting this Friday night in Springvale where a few Zeds will surely be around. So if you have some time drop in and say hello. Cheers Craig. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 4, 2011 Administrators Posted January 4, 2011 Welcome as Craig has mentioned pop down for the BBQ on Friday in Springvale and you'll soon get a good idea of what you are up against. Whilst repair bills might be high for rust, we have several skilled members who I'm sure will be willing to lend a hand and get you on the road. As Craig said work in progress is how most of our cars are and as I'm sure you are aware the Wangan midnight car was. I'm curious what this mechanic Con's last name was? Have a feeling I might just know him. Quote
luvemfast Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Welcome Sam, How much $$$ you guys reckon it needs to fix all these issues/necessities? Ahhhh, the ever returning question. Get handy and have patience. Most of us have had our cars for years and they are NEVER finished Quote
53-681 Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 haha, thanx a mill guys! Where abouts is the bbq and when? I deff can't bring the zed around, but sounds awesome! I'm not too sure what Con's surname was, but he had a Blue Z, and was a mechanic working privately from home. An awesome one at that too (Sort of reminds me of kitami Jun now ) Quote
