OK, spent half the day reading different posts regarding this and am still a little confused.

As I mentioned in another thread, I plan to do the regularity race at Easter at bathurst. I just did the speed weekend where we ran 1/2 - 2/3 of conrod and I experienced a bit of lightening near the kink. the car felt as if I was getting to much air under it, it still steered ok into the kink (still trying to accellerate at 6600 in 4th - its an LS1 - probably about 210-220).

The car is currently on the trailer, about to go for bigger exhaust, fix my fuel system up a little, and a bigger/better intake (eyeing of a 8 throttle set up or at worst a single plane victor jnr) funds permitting (if I sell my tyre shop) I may rebuild with the goal of 500hp atw.

Now i have never wound this thing up properly all the way down conrod, but would hate to get there at easter and find that for safety reasons I can't stay into the throttle all the way. I currently have removed the headlights and have a pod sticking thru the drivers side. From my reading today obviously some covers are in order for the buckets.

I guess I am after some advice from the racer boys here who actually drive at excess of 200 as per what they find works well. Looks are not that important, I notice 620z has a supercar style wing, but also read that the BRE works well. Is the G-nose the best bet? I would also like to be able to run some sort of cooling to the front brakes.

So options on a front and rear spoiler, and who can supply a spoiler that won't come apart at speed.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah hopefully somebody on here can give you a heads up on front spoilers for 280ZX's. If they are the same as my Zed then I swear by the G-Nose and my rear spoiler. My car is as stable as anything at high speeds with my set up.

I thought the 280ZX had better aero and weight distribution than the S30 cars.

But if you've but a V8 in, may have changed balance.

BenZed has some spoiler options that may interest you. Maybe try Alfa fibreglass too.

Generally not many options on where to get them in Aus.

Have a look at the Paul Newman 280ZX's of the time and see what they did; it obviously worked for them! They had some monster turbo L28 powered zx's.

260DET will be able to help you out if you drop him a line. He and I spend a fair bit of time over on hybridz in the Aero section and have donw tests to the cars on the track with noticable results.

I've done 245kph in my S30 and it was fine over the hill. It feels very light, but when you get off the gas and a touch of brake for the chase, the cars really settle down at the front a lot.

Be thankful you're not in one of the Group N Mustangs: 300kph and wheelspin over that rise!

Also, you probably won't need any special brake cooling. Bathurst is not that hard on the brakes, there is so much time between hard braking that provided you can do 250-80 at the end of the chase, you'll be fine as the brakes get a good chance to cool down. Much of the top of the hill is just light braking here and there, most of it is at a more or less constant speed. I didn't do anything except fresh pads and discs (slotted) for both times I have been to Bathurst. My dad took his TT supra a couple years ago and was doing similar speeds, 230+ and also only had to put fresh pads on. Whatever you normally use on the track will be fine.

Thanks for the responses guys, dropped in to see Ben today, but alas he was not home, expecting a call tomorrow. We decided today that we are going the E85 route, so we are gonna plumb new fuel lines all the way through as it requires more fuel and from all reports appears to be a little corrosive so metal lines wherever possible. Gonna cost me a shedload in AN fittings and such. As for the induction I'll let you know soon. The exhaust we are going to try to run a 2.5 either side in front of the wheels but my concern is the noise, don't want to be thrown off a track for being to noisy.

On another note, was chasing a spare set of toyo R888's. Now being a toyo dealer who spends over 10k a month I would expect a bit of a deal - HA - not. St George tyres actually beat the direct price by over $60 per tyre. I know they are dodgy importers, but a saving is a saving. F__k toyo.

Any reason in front instead of behind the front wheels? That's a lot of heat close to the tyres/brakes, that's all.

Depending on what class you want to run in, I think for regularity you need a muffled car, so let's call it something that you would be happy driving on the road, rather than sticking to 90dB. No muffler's and you'll likely meet resistance.

As a side note, the local Toyo dealer here in WA charge's over $50 per tyre above RRP. Taleb tyres can get them in and delivered to me at $100 below his price. I think it's just a toyo thing, but being a dealer you should get sponsorship price at least!! I got Toyo sponsorship for one event and it was around half the RRP for a set of R-comps in exchange for running 5 Toyo stickers, 3 small, 2 large.

Sorry, my bad!!! I meant in front of the rear tyres just behind the doors. I am hoping to get a muffler either side, not to bothered about a balance pipe.

On the toyo thing, I have organised sponsorship before for our local 12 hr car a BOGOF deal, buy one get one free. Toyo are just being arseholes this time. My last price was $318+ tax, cost me just over $1400, this time they wanted $380+. St George will do them for $350 including and I have been assured that it will be fresh stock (arrives early Jan) Just gets my goat, bloody arogant Jap bastards.

Shall I even mention the NSW general manager that feel on his sword when it was found out that he had helped himself to over $30k worth of R888 for him and his mates. Falken is always willing to help but they are lower quality, Kumho used to sell me their race tyres but no longer will. Yoko is a closed market as with Bridgestone.
