Bruce Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Gday guys, I bought some 15x7 wheels a little while ago. 2 are original watanabes and 2 are copies There is about 10mm of clearance between the wheel and the strut on the front, currently without running spacers (see attached pic). I have got access to some 5mm spacers which I don't really want to use but will if I have to. If I was running coilovers which use a smaller diameter spring platform it wouldn't be an issue. Has any one got any thoughts on what sort of clearance is needed between the wheel and the strut? cheers Bruce attached are some pics: Quote

Toecutter Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Looks good. The black centers suit the your white paint. I used a set of 15x7 superlites with 225 tyres at the rear that had about 5 to 10mm clearence on the rear spring perch and never had a problem. I think you'll be ok it's just that a posative offset can look a bit off I reckon if the wheels sit to far in to the center of the car!? Have ya got some pics of the car front on or from the rear? thehelix112 Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Get em as close as you please. I would not go over 205 on a 7" rim though, the tyres get squirmy and then you may run into rubbing issues. Plus you end up with more grip with a 205. Dave Quote
zedevan Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 wow i love rs-8 watanabes! they look nice, my only suggestion would b on the copy's to paint the bolt section so they look more similar ...now if only they came in 17" with a negative offset for less than 5g lol Quote
PZG302 Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 With the gap between tyre and strut you don't need to worry about spacers, especially as the tyre will flex at the contact patch and not the top of the wheel. Quote
