Riceburner Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I recently had alternator problems in my 240z and found my fuel/ammeter gauge to be totally useless Does anyone know if a 260z/280z fuel/volt gauge will swap straight in? Are the sender units the same? Quote
Scoota G Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I know the wiring is different on the 260Z as i bought a dash with the same fuel/volt gauge. Different color code for that gauge. I still have the under dash wiring to suit. Quote
Riceburner Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Fufu mentioned it when he had 'common fuse blowing' but it doesn't give too much detail, also he never actually said it worked. Do you know what color wires the 260z volt gauge runs? Is it big white with red trace(+12v), earth, then light? Quote
Scoota G Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 I've got the wiring loom right here It has two plugs for that gauge Three pin plug Green/ white stripe Black Red Six pin plug Black Green Blue Green Yellow Red/ Blue stripe Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted September 20, 2010 Moderators Posted September 20, 2010 Gareth, what I did on Fu's car was when I removed the amp/fuel gauge, the large white/red wires that run through the amp meter I just joined together and at that connection, attached the positive wire for the 260's voltmeter. The negative just find a good earth and bolt it to that. For the loom on the volt/fuel gauge, just swap the one from your 240Z to the 260 fuel gauge. It should be straight forward. Quote
