dat2kman Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Have some rb20/rb30 Nissan 71c complete stock gearboxes avail, can supply with RB type bellhousings, or can swap over YOUR L or FJ series bell housing over onto the stronger RB gear sets. Can also supply thicker close ratio gearsets for these RB type gear clusters ( 71C ), as well as L series gear cluster ( 71B) Can also offer supply AND fit/reco gearbox with modified set up to your bellhousing. Close ratios are similar to Nismo Option 2 - first/second/third gears pm or ring me on 0403 071 294 Quote
260Devil Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Ok to start off i have a l26. Secondly how much just for the stronger rb box? i dont think i need the short ratios its just a daily. Thirdly do i need to rebalance/shorten the drive shaft? and would i need to change the diff ratios? alot of questions i know Thanks. Aaron. Quote
dat2kman Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 RB20/30 box are same overall length as a stock L series box from a 260/280 z, so you keep your stock tailshaft, which is good. No need to rebalance tailshaft! Just a box? price is $400 for a RB complete box. To make it fit into a Z I will need you to supply your old L series B type box, or get one from an old Bluebird or 240k/Skyline etc that has a L motor 4 speed or 5 speed it must be, I just can't do it to an Auto Box !!. I then machine and make the L bell fit into the RB cluster , I bolt it on and you bolt it in. You will need to mod the box xmember, i will show you what and how ( very simple !). For that i charge some dollars/beers/bottles of nice stuff etc for labour and machine milling and lathework and imparting knowledge and wisdom. Depending on what you want to do with the car, if used as a daily driver and nice long drives, you do not need to cahnge your diff. if you want to play weekend warrior and do some sprints/trackwork, I suggest you ugrade to say a 4.3 LSD diff, which I can supply, and if budget stretches, consider a nice brand new close ratio gearset for the RB box. No question is too difficult! hope this helps! jason Quote
260Devil Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 wow thankyou and yes i believe some beers would be in order for such a job haha and as im just starting off modifying my Z ive been hearing alot of things but what is an r200 driff? Quote
peter t Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Does the rb20/30 box fit a 2+2 with no problems as to the location of gear lever placement? Quote
PZG302 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Should do Pete. Jason is traipsing around Europe for a bit and will be back late July to be able to.confirm if it will work in a station wagon but as they are pretty much the same in terms of engine and gearbox location mounts with the 2 seaters should all be good.
