PZG302 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Sounds very nice, how much money does an engine like that cost? If you have to ask, you can't afford it..... Seriously, a good motor can be built at an affordable price, <$10k, but as the sign said in Mad Max at the wreckers, "Speed is just a question of money. How fast can you go???" My rebuild was about $11k, but that included all dyno time for the tune, a new clutch, new radiator, and some other bits and pieces and work that needed to be done atthe same time. Quote
luvemfast Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I know its a stoopid question, its just good to have a figure to dream about for the future. Quote
C.A.R. Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Peter said to me not long ago that he can screw together a 2.9ltr long motor, with forged rods & pistons, head work & valve train for 7k, that will make 190kw with the right induction & exhaust. Is that still ballpark Peter? Quote
peter mc Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 yes i can build the long motor for that . extra for sump mods . it the external parts that ad up and they make the difference Quote
Bluegti Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I used to run an L28 with +60 pistons and 39/71 cam and it ran smooth as. Sure it lumped but with the right torque converter and tricked auto there was never a drama on the street (aside from the fuel bill) Quote
