tir33d Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Avid reader, rare poster, big ideas man. Hey some may say im silly, (actually most of the town where I live) but I am goin to remove the L28 from my 280zx and replace with a LS1 and 6 speed. You will get: L28with factory turbo manifold xr6 intercooler new turbo (off fleabay rated at up to 600hp) 5 speed with a nasty paddle clutch running the larger flywheel pressure plate combination wolf 3d computer V3 boost gauge and electric boost controller all piping to suit (including blow off) Head just been serviced, new timing chain and gear new water pump Ok a little history, I bought this car of ebay 18mths ago as is with turbo, used it as a run around for a while then took it to Wakefield Park racetrack. I also own a VE ute that has a cam and makes about 320kw atw. Me VE does 1.11 with alot of money spent, my dato does 1.15 with no money spent. Good strong little motor with really sloppy handling. Anyway, my V8 friends have all embarked on the track only car concept so I have decided to do the same. Last outing at Wakefield I push the limit a little far. I eventually blew the exhaust side seal on the turbo, we removed the head, no internal damage, no head damage but had it all serviced anyway and a couple of exhaust valves replaced. Replace the timing chain and put it all back together. Running again now but I have now assembled all my bits for the conversion so I am keen to start. OK what you need to know. Although all there, the computer system running the turbo is old and hard to get someone who knows what he is doing, I would suggest to get it right you would be better off to put a new computer at it. The current tune is rich - not dangerous. It produces good power, but there is obviously heaps left. Some of the pipework it a little average to look at, but a sand and coat of paint will fix this. the clutch was bought as a track only clutch, standard clutch slips immediately. The clutch is nasty, engages very solidly and honestly not road friendly. Located near Bathurst NSW, am able to assist with freight. Currently still in car Ok open to suggestions was thinking $1500 was more than fair! I have spent at least that on and around the motor in the last 12 months. thanks Phill 0402115201 Quote
Mr240z Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 bit pricey as a mint rb30et/det will sell for that much Why would you say that....... His not selling a dime a dozen rb30 his selling a L28turbo that fits pretty much the same as the original L-motor with a few extra bits.. I think it a top price that will sell fast.. Quote
zzzzed Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 the wolf 3D ecu is worth a big chunk of that price tag alone me thinks this is a bargain and if i didnt already have one i would buy it my self I would also rather have this than an rb30et Quote
r30 sedan Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Interested in the lot for that price have sent you a Pm Quote
herrods Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Those commenting should really either be buying, or asking questions, or posting constructively or positively. negative comments on the gear or the price are not appreciated by anyone. Personally I think that is a bargain. RB anything will require different mounting etc etc etc etc that will run u into more dollars than this will. Good luck with the sale. the new owner of an L28et powered beast will be very happy. Quote
1979ZED Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 good buy mate. If I wasn't building my own I would have grabbed this. Quote
