Bruce Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Here is a couple of photos of my car after getting it registered. Bit of a long story, but after getting through the red tape of Vicroads I finally got my plates on Thursday. The car is a 73 model with the original L24. At some stage it has been resprayed white from the original metallic blue (which I hope to respray it in at some stage). I'm currently in the process of getting some adjustable Koni's and Lovells springs fitted, thanks to Sid from GT Suspension. Also thanks to Ash for the castor rod. I'm hoping to have it ready for the Group 5 sprint on the 15th of October at Sandown. cheers Bruce Quote
zr240 Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 looking good !!! good luck in the sprint. Ash Quote
dave_hl Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Bruce, where abouts did you get the road worthy done? ill probably be going for mine tomorrow, or at least booking one in. But dont want to go to some tightarse mechanic whos gonna fail me on the stupidest of things. the cars safe and so forth, it was registered in NSW just 2 months ago but thats run out now. or can anyone recommend a good place. I am in mont albert, just between box hill and balwyn. thanks. Quote
zedevan Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 there's a place near blackburn station i'd recommend, i didn't end up getting mine done there as they were to tight about the rust and wanted me to replace the doors which i didnt want to do if i could avoid it. but on my bro's and also my gf's car he was very good. gf's car at one place had a list of 10+ things, including 3 tyres and windscreen wiper blades, new pads all around and to get the front rotors machined, he only wanted 1 tyre changed and that was about it... i can't remember the name, he's a saab or volvo mechanic, its on the corner of railway rd and mary st in blackburn, my brother will know the name so will update when i find out your car looks nice bruce! it makes me want the rear spoiler Quote
Bruce Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 had the RW done at Bertel Motors in Tooronga Road East Hawthorn. I have had a couple done there and I have found them to be pretty reasonable. Quote
dave_hl Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 ok, east hawthorn one would be near uni so maybe there. theres a few things im concerned about like: - the rear wiper blade needs to be replaced i think - my speedo still doesn't work, but they dont drive it do they? (i plan to get that fixed at some stage but will have GPS which will give me speed for now) - bit of rust below the doors on that rail right at the bottom. - windscreen water sprayers i need to fix. a mate of mine got a dodgy RW on his bmw, im tempted to do the same, the car is safe (so far as i know), tyres are 4k old etc. Quote
Bruce Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 They pulled me up on a couple of things: A couple of ball joints, It had a bad earth which I got them to fix (I only noticed this the night before I dropped it in otherwise I would have attempted to fix it myself.) Some underbody rust which they welded up. Quote
