Guys I need your opinion...

I've ordered a set of new Simmons V4's and they should be delivered within the month. What I wanna know is do you think the car will look better with 7inch/8inch or 8inch rims all round? The ole skool say 7/8 but I also hear that 8's all round could be the go also!

Time to turn to the form...opinions greatly appreciated fellas...

When I bought my Simmons, I went with all four being 8"; easy when it comes to tyre choice as you don't have to get different profiles etc..

Where did you order them from???? Tony Simmons closed shop in 2009. I got what would be close to some of the last wheels made when I ordered my OM18's from them.

Personally 8" all round will give the car a more balanced look, but you will probably need flared guards to fit 8" rims. The 7" will look good and may give you better fit.

I would have also thought that you would have made up your mind by now. I know ordering my wheels I hade to have everything ready to go and sized when I placed my order. I even left an old wheel with the factory so they could make sure they got the sizing right for back space and offsets to suit my needs.

Depends on the offset and tyre choice. My old 240z have 16x9 on all 4 with stock guards and spring perches (ie only running lowered springs, koni reds) but these rims would not fit a 260z with stock spring perches. I then replaced the 16x9 with 16x8 +10 offset and again stock suspension and guards no problems at all - again these would not fit a 260z front suspension as the spring perch is lower on the 260z and fowled on the rim

Give Chris at Wheel Revolution a call (07) 3209 2833 he can give you advice on Simmons. I was worried how it would all fit under the guard too as I'm dreaming of willwoods at some stage, but Chris has fitted a few Z's and has the offset all sorted. It could be too late, but the customer is always wrong ain't he?!

I would be interested to know where they are getting the Simmons from as Tony Simmons closed the business down in 2009 when he retired.

I know that there is a company in sydney whose name escapes at the moment does do the refurbishment of existing wheels, but as far as I know there are no new Simmons being made, I hope I am proved wrong though.

Also wha sort of dollars are you looking at for the rims, if you don't want to say, no problems there...

You might be talking about Neals Wheels in Sydney, they too could help me source V4's, but they may well be using the contact that Wheel Revolution uses. Give these guys a call as they told me how it all works and I can't recall the deal, but at the end of the day we can get them if possible which is a good thing. My old 240 had them in NZ and I reckon they look pretty good. No worries re the price, this forum keeps the &^&#$@#@ honest - $2700 right down to the wheel nuts!
