hunterzed Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Just remember that powder coating is has pores and won't seal the surface of the wheel so it may not be the best coating for such a high weathered area. Quote
zedhead26 Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 oh ok cheers i didnt know that. would paint be a better option? Quote
sexual_sushi Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I didn't know that either, but you usually powder coat suspension parts and they receive a fair bit of abuse? Quote

I don't think that's right, If powder coating had pores, and hence no seal, no one would use it. Maybe power coating that is incorrectly applied has pores? Quote
hunterzed Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I did a little more research on this and there are a couple of different types of powder coatings. Apparently the powders that are classed as decorative are porous and not good for our applications. There are ways however to make it a good corrosion barrier that lasts for more than 15 years when exposed to the weather. Anyway this link might explain it a bit better. http://seattlepowdercoat.com/myths__faqs Quote
