Riceburner Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Can anyone confirm if these part numbers are correct for 260z stub axle rear wheel bearings going into a 240z..... B312-16C4 and RLS10-C4 ?? Quote
NZeder Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I kept the empty boxes and somewhere I have the numbers off the bearings written down. The C4 part is correct. The part numbers I have on boxes are (SKF boxes) GRW116 and GRW117 (imported from the USA a few years back, from these and partnumber on the bearings we tracked down local supplies, ie via Oz - partnumbers are more like the ones you have stated) I will check my other pc later as I am sure I have numbers saved on that on EDIT: Ok before I left the house for work this morning I popped out to the garage and found my other spare set of bearings (well only one side as the other was used to fix a mates race car - this is why I have spare set so we can replace in a hurry if need be) Anyway the part number you have are almost correct - I get the following from the bearings I have. RLS10-T-C4 - this is actually a Nissan bearing with that partnumber stuck over the stock Nissan item - Nachi bearing and this is the inner unit (some suppliers might not have the T in the partnumber) B31Z-16C4 - this is a NSK bearing and is the outer unit. Also make sure you get the 10mm seal - most only stock or sell 6mm units - these work but the factory items were 10mm thick, again as these usually take some time to come in (well in given I am in NZ and most of the stuff comes from OZ I am sure you guys will be fine) so we usually order a few at a time keep spare on hand. Riceburner Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Thanks your a great help, I take it the seal is for the rear of the housing, do you have a part number for that? Quote
NZeder Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Thanks your a great help, I take it the seal is for the rear of the housing, do you have a part number for that? It is for the companion flange side of the setup. I don't have that part number handy but when you order the bearings just tell them you need a seal to match and you want the 10mm thick version not the standard 6mm (or is it 8mm) version. Quote
Riceburner Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 I pulled mine to pieces and managed to get a part number off the seal for anyone who is interested.. 43232 E4100. Also the bearing suppliers are saying they cant get the C4 type bearings anymore, only C3 :-\ Is this a problem? Quote

A C4 can see higher temps than a C3. The C rating relates to the clearances. As the C4 has larger clearances it is therefore designed for very high temps. I look at it this way - Nissan put a C4 in there for a reason so a C4 should go back in. Quote
NZeder Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 These guys have listing for the partnumber in VIC http://www.hirollbearings.com.au/ Check the PDF on their website - however it does state 2004 in the pdf name Or just purchase these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z,260Z,280Z-Rear-Outer-Wheel-Brngs-and-Seals!_W0QQitemZ350319185255QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20100222?IMSfp=TL100222129013r3020 You could also try Nissan here are the part number B31Z-16C4 = 43215-E4100 (Nissan part #) RLS10-C4 = 43210-E4100 (Nissan part #) Quote
Riceburner Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 You sir are a wealth of information! Thanks Quote
NZeder Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 How did you make out? A mate here popped down to where we get our bearings from here in NZ today as he needs to replace mine that he used. Anyway they show over 160 C4 in Melbourne for one of the bearings (I think it is the B31Z-16C4) and indent on the other (RLS10-C4) We believe we know why the other is indent, it was the item we got last time that was in a Nissan bag with their partnumber covered up. This is done as they might only sell these to Nissan and not the general public. I guess as NZ is a small market and they don't carry stock they might have a method to get these to us without going to Nissan ie they want the sale. Either way there are more than enough in Australia currently but will confirm tomorrow on the indent stock bearing. Quote
Riceburner Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Hmmmmm yeah you're right, I was dealing with SKF and BCB to start with, but i think they were telling stories or not interested in the sale. Ended up sourcing them through Bursons! Quote
