Hi guys,

have to do a sill panel under the doors and wondering how you can rust proof the inner side of the sill panel and weld it in without setting fire to the rustproofer/paint on the inside of it? What do you guys paint/treat inside of it with before welding it? Cheers.

Hey lurch,

do you put any primer or paint on the inner surface first before the fish oil or just raw metal? Cheers

You can prep the sections your going to weld in with most high zinc products (although I dont as they give way after a while), or rust proofers but what I do is use a copper based weld through primer for any metal on metal sections you may still need to spotweld together.

Then once all said & done drill a 10-13mm hole in the rear wheel arch / inner guard so you can use a rust preventative like your oils as mentioned above or a product Like 'cavity wax', it seals out any way for moisture to get into these metal on metal sheet joins. You will need to borrow or buy a cavity / box section spraying atachment / gun for this, ie long thin rod with a 180degree hemisphere spray pattern, start at your deepest point and slowly pull towards the drilled hole you have made, can be don from both ends on the Z sill but will need to remove the front guards. oh and also plug up the drilled hole accordingly......

however many other ways of doing, but this is how all my cars are done or going to be done in future also....
