Bit of a boring poll but wanted to get you guys' opinion on what colour i should respray my side vision mirrors on my porchse red 280zx.

Up until a few days ago i was thinking just the same red as the rest of the car as its a pretty safe option, but i thought a nice black might look better, as the interior is all black, and the plastic bonnet grills (1980 style) are black also, so it might add an extra something. I am respraying coz they are currently looking pretty terrible... all the paint is coming off (pretty sure they're not stock).

thanks.

Thanks for doing that dude. Looks really good. I never got into the whole photo shop scene, presuming thats how you did it.

Well yeah i think that looks good in black, i would prefer to just keep these mirrors, i rekon they look pretty good. Im also after doing the job pretty cheaply, i need to spend my money on a tune, alarm system then a bit of sound. and im also saving to buy a dirt bike , all whilst studying full time at uni. *boo*

yep photoshop, i did it as a small break between doing bits for an assignment in it for uni. which uni are you at and what are u studying? i know what you mean, i've had my car nearly 2 years and havn't done half the stuff i wanted to do to it due to money dissappearing elsewhere

i'm at swin doing product design eng, 3rd yr now, i dont feel like i've learnt much :S which is a bit worrying. there's a guy in 3rd yr mech eng now i think he'd b, and he has a gold/orange 280zx u might c around the campus a bit and he's also on here, do u drive to uni or train? i train it in so its pretty rare for my car to be there, specially since its currently off the road...hehe

to answer both posts:

Yeah that picture you see there is from the previous owner when he was selling it (i havent got round to taking some good day shots, just a couple of night ones in the gallery section) so since ive had it ive taken off the headlight covers and mudguards whcih adds a lot.

Explain the lowered springs to me, im not much of a expert in cars, still young and learning :D

And yeah i have seen that gold/orange 280zx around about 4 times now, was about to ask if you knew him. I have to admitt before i bought my 280 i saw his orange one at the lights when i was waiting for a tram and got so excited i pulled out my phone and took a video and watched it over and over. haha, dam im cool!

I will probably drive to uni a bit once i get my 280 going seeing as ive owned it for just on a month now and only driven it for a week! but, tram is the cheapest option so i think ill do that mostly. hopefully my car will be tuned properly and rego'd before too long so keep a look out for me.

If you want a firmer ride and get the car looking a little tougher you can get heavier lowered springs installed to replace the existing. Although ideally you might want to think about about changing shocks too depending on condition the springs would only set you back approx $200 + installation prolly a couple of hundred if that. Evans pretty good with photoshopping cars maybe he can show us what it would look like if lowered a couple of inches!?????????

hehe, i have better things to be doing right now! but mayb later...either way its a fact the lower they are the better they look! i personally like the headlight covers on your car dave, but guess i havn't seen them off.

i've got the front shocks and springs going into my car currently, and the rear going in most likely after the RWC (the front bushes are being replaced so while its all apart the fronts are going in since they were just sitting here) i bought it all second hand, you can get second hand king springs for around $100 ($220 or so new), but as sulio said u'd be best to change the shocks too most likely

yeah sounds good guys, i agree the car would look sweet lowered a tad but ill have to put in on the maybe list for further down the track, definately not a priority now.

In terms of the actaul shocks, im not entirely sure of the deal, but it is fitted with ajustable nismo sports suspension. from 18 years ago or 50 thousand k's. so im not sure if that means its a completely new package or just the shock... i wouldn't mind tightening them up though for a tighter ride.

How could you have better things to be doing then photoshopping my car Evan...
