Hey guys,

I'm trying to order some tyres for my 260z but I don't have the car atm and they want to know the stock size and minimum load capacity of the original wheels.

I need someone with a 260z to check their tyre placard, its either on the glove box lid or its on the inside of the door.

I will donate $5 to the site if I get an answer that details the Stock Size AND the Minimum Load Capacity within the next hour! ;)

From the Haynes book.

260z

Wheels pressed steel      5J - 14

Tyres(radial) 195/70 VR 14

Pressures (under 100mph - 160kph)

Front 28 lb in (2.0kg cm)

Rear--Same

Don't know if that helps

Steve, what size rims are you running at the moment?

These will determine what size you need now. If you're running 7" rims you would be looking at about a 205-225/ 55-65/ 14  tyre depending on final aspect ratio you want to run and whether you are too much worried about gearing and speedo.

My speedo has been out since I changed the gearbox hehe, not too worried about it. I believe I'm currently running 14x6 rims but I have no idea on tyre size, perhaps 195 at a guess?

Steve,

I would suggest a 195 or 205 tyre in either 65 or 70 profile for your wheels, this would cover either a 6 or 7 inch rim. Personally I would go for the 205 in a 65 series, but final choice would depend on tyre availability and budget.

Robbie seemed very keen to try 215s since he has them in stock. I said that I had been recommended 205s but he seemed very set on starting with 215s since he wouldn't have to order any in. :-\

My 17x7.5 rota RBs should be arriving today :)

A 215 will work as well, I have run upto a 235 on a 7" rim, and have seen 265 squeezed on a 7 as well.

As for not ordering any in, more to keep you happy as you get the tyres straight away. As Robbie is an independent dealer it can take some time to get some tyres in, I have had to wait up to a coupleof weeks for tyres for the work ute due to being an odd size and load rating.

Ahhh, the penny's dropped, you were after tyres for the 17's.....

215's will work very well on a 17.5" wide rim. What profile are you looking at and what tyres has Robbie recommended?

When I had my old AU Ute he put a set of Hankooks on it, 235/45/17 and they went very well and were cheap to boot. Basically what Robbie used on his personal ute, so if they are good enough for the owner of the shop they're good enough for me.... ;D

Actually when I spoke to Robbie I didn't ask him what type of tyre he recommended, he had me checking on the size so I forgot to ask. I'll give him a call tomorrow and find out.
