Moderators Zedman240® Posted November 22, 2009 Moderators Posted November 22, 2009 It's better to be safe and grab a harness that's in current date with no damage like fading etc...just to be sure.. Quote
Scando Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 As far as I know they still go on the dates. But I've heard they will soon be changing it so that older harnesses can still be used if the scruiteneer deems it safe. This makes sense as lots of harnesses become out of date with very little use. Last two club sprints I've done, its been 3 (or is it 4? Can't remember now) years past the expiry date is okay.... So for example a harness expiring in 2008 (like mine!) is now valid for CLUB LEVEL ONLY till 2011. So obviously CAMS have finally passed that change through that they were talking about for the last year or two. Not sure if they are planning to make further changes or not though. Quote
PZG302 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 All FIA approved harnesses at all levels of circuit racing up to state level have a 5 year extension on the life of the harness. My harness had an expiry date of 2007, it is now valid for all the events I would do up to 2012. As far as I remember SFI accredited harness still only have a two year life. To make sure of the requirements call CAMS. Quote
bluerat Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Howdy Mick, I'll proberly be the one scrutineering, so send me a Pm. If it's got a date, it's 10 years, if no date then it has to have a ADR tag, or standard lap sash in good nick. If your stuck, I might be able to track something down for you, Hodgo Quote
