RBZ 260 Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Finaly after many months my 260z 2+2 finaly gets its new engine. After 2 weeks of detailing the RB20DET pretty much every bolt and pipe removed from the engine. checked cleaned and painted. The rocker covers are still to come off for detailing didnt want to risk damaging them. they geting painted with candy apple with marble effect and rainbow mettalic.fairly expensive paint hence the reason for doing it after the engine is installed. now still to install clutch and gbox and other bits such as power steering and A/C pipes Plus all the wiring. still lot of work to do  but now its rewarding as i can see the project finaly moving towards the end. and after every day the parts heap around my yard is finaly getting smaller. NZeder Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 What engine mounts did you use - custom one that you did yourself or did you purchase some from I forget the name but there is guy in well somewhere in Australia that sell them. Also did you custom made the sump or did you purchase a rear sump from Nissan? Looking good by the way Quote
RBZ 260 Posted June 28, 2006 Author Posted June 28, 2006 Thanks, Some details: Sump: r32 item cut and swaped around and welded with baffle swap as well and moded. used z31 200zr oil pick up bought from nissan . requires slight adjustment. total cost $60 plus lot of hours with welder and grinder. prob next time will buy sump from 200zr but $480 is lots of $$$$ almost half the price of the engine. engine brackets. i sued original r32 items with r32 engine mounts. but trick to it i sloted the subframe hole to replicate the skyline subframe. this drops the engine to the lowest position and also allows u to position the engine square... also the engine mount holes have been sloted to push the engine as far as posible to the back. when i nitialy did this about a year ago i had clearences everywhere. but i did remove the engine to get it all painted and detialed so now its back in again. only improvement i did is made it possible to slide the engine more backwards for better balance.
