kenny000 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Hey all, Excuse me if this is a dumb question, but i was wondering if i can still start my car with the dash out. All the car internals are stripped, not including the steering column section. Is there any vital components that are needed to start the car or will it fire up without any problems? Thanks for the help Quote
stevo_gj Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I wasn't able to start the car without the Taco plugged in IIRC. Quote
RB30X Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Unless I've missed something here I take it your talking about an old Z?? I've been starting mine from the engine bay even since I dodgied up some temperary wiring. You can do this without a dash, steering collum or key etc. You need battery power to the coil and starter motor and fuel pump if you have one then engage the starter soleniod. Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 22, 2009 Moderators Posted October 22, 2009 Reason the tacho is needed is because it supplies the coil power. Just run a wire from the + of the battery to the + of the coil and it should run. Quote
