nat0_240_chevZ Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I have extremely good repore with wattyl super etch in grey or black. this is a single pack products which has one of the best etche's around bar a couple of 2 pac products I NOW know of. Minus paint here in adelaide will chem bath to strip your car, not cheap bur, and will paint in the above product inside & out, for metal protection, this includes internal rails and sill panels with a spray ball. however like i said expensive, and around the 2400 mark for a Z shell (price from about 2 years ago) http://www.minuspaint.com.au/about_process.htm but there are surely other services around aus that will do this, check out the website...... nat0 Quote
Brabham Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I am about to strip my bonnet and fix the rust in it. The beadblaster will not blast it as it will warp the panel. This leaves my options as hand sanding and wire brushing, soda blasting, acid dipping or alkaline dipping. Has anyone done their bonnet lately or which way would they recommend going? I will fix all the major rust before getting it stripped. Cheers. Quote
nat0_240_chevZ Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 paint stripper, then a 9' pad of the clean & strip discs to get any hard gritty PITA remainders. have to keep the pads moving as they too can easily build up heat, but i have found them to be one of the best physical methods, best used on a slower polisher not a grinder, as they are a bit too fast, even though the pads can be rated for them. these clean & strip discs look like black or purple honeycomb wheels, feel quite rough but dont grind the metal, just leaves swirls in it. nat0 Quote
Brabham Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Thanks Nato will think about that. What about the soda blasting or acid dipping any body tried this for large flat panels such as bonnets? Quote
