Riceburner Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Hi all, just got my new exhaust system done, megphones! Anyhoo was wondering if i should cover original exhaust cut out on rear panel? plz excuse pics Quote
dalee Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Will not be as loud as yours Gavin. Looks the business, didn't you have the twin stacks on before Gareth! Dale Quote
Riceburner Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 Thanks. Yeah had the twin stacks but came across some stainless megaphone tips a while ago, i've been itching to get em on! Its no louder than the old system, just deeper. Do you think i should cover up original cutout? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted August 31, 2009 Moderators Posted August 31, 2009 Hey Gareth, I'd leave the exhaust cutout there just in case you need it in the future.. Also, you said this system was not much louder than your old setup, just curious what mufflers are you running in the center? I had a twin system earlier on my zed with just hotdogs and that was way too loud for the street. Did you run at the Island with the twins? Quote
Riceburner Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 Hey Dimitri, nah havent raced for a while. Making a manifold for my new carbs, so funds have been diverted :'( Not sure of the brand of muffler, its 30-40cm long and offset, single 2.5inch inlet then a cone with two 2inch outlets. They stuck it up uner the prop shaft, really neat fit. Hope that helps? Btw they're on warrigal rd just near repco. Mite put some white contact over the hole Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted August 31, 2009 Moderators Posted August 31, 2009 Thanks Gareth, it explains it very well.. I thought you installed a completely separate twin system from the extractors twin secondaries all the way to the back. Yours is a clever way to have a twin system but with the quietness of a single. I had a twin all the way with two hotdogs (one for each 2" pipe) all the way to the back which was very loud as you revved up. Sounded great but for sure will get "pinged" for excessive decibels at any track. I am looking into a good quiet twin system soon.. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Looks cool! My vote would be to cover up the stock exhaust hole, but I tend to lean on the pretty sides of things not the practical Quote
Riceburner Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 Dimitri, should sound great with the ITB setup. I have about 2inch of clearance under tank, pipes are wrapped. I checked for heat transfer with laser thermometer and theres nothing, that was my only concern. Sushi, thanks think i'll go white contact and try to hide it with tow hook. Then when i get doors repaired get it patched up and painted. Quote
