Gyra Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Hi folks. I'm just getting back into things after a long time in the wilderness... I've had my 71 Z for about 16 years - 3 engines, 2 rebuilds, 2 roofs... I bought it originally from z-spares in Clayton. The red interior appealed at the time as a bit different. Currently running a warmish L28 with a stack of head work. Recently went back to the old points distributor after the L24E electronic unit fritzed. Working on prepping up a new dizzy. The paintwork is looking very tired after years as a daily driver, with plenty of carpark dings and scrapes, so looking forward to another rebuild and paint this year! Cheers! Gary Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted July 28, 2009 Administrators Posted July 28, 2009 Hi Gary, Welcome to the site hope you find it useful. I never saw Zspares out in Clayton only visited Zshop in Glen Iris. I bought it originally from z-spares in Clayton. The red interior appealed at the time as a bit different. If you end up changing out the interior let me know as I'd be very interested in it. I'm thinking of returning my 240z to Silver and a red interior would suit really well. I think it looks good against the white also though . Car looks nice and clean despite what you say about the paint, its far better than what most start with, so looks like you kept her in good condition. What has been done to the engine? And were all the previous engines L-series? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted July 28, 2009 Administrators Posted July 28, 2009 By the way is your chassis prefix HS30 or S30? Just looking at your signature there. Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted July 29, 2009 Moderators Posted July 29, 2009 Another Welcome! I first went to Z Sapres to buy my first zed; did you ever meet a Tyrone while you were there? Would be good to come to the next meet, would be great to see the car in person.. Quote
Gyra Posted July 29, 2009 Author Posted July 29, 2009 I don't remember Tyrone, but I do remember spending about 2 years looking for a decent 240 before finding about 6 of them tucked away in Lindsay's workshop. Rob did the panel work before he headed off to start up the z restoration factory. I had a really nice 180b station wagon before that which I regret selling. Not a sports car by any means, but it had a SSS engine with a bumpy cam that surprised a few commodores at the lights. Quote
