stevo_gj Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Well I'm in a bit of shock after watching it happen and feel the need to share. Driving home from work out of the Valley at about 1015pm along wickham tce I notice a blue BMW in the lane next to me is veering all over the road. I think 'he must be drunk!' and then watch him speed off in the far right hand lane (its a one way street) and narrowly avoid hitting parked car. Another 100m down the road he nearly runs a red light, screeching to a stop and scaring the hell out of a Toyota Supra car club as they had a green and he nearly went straight through their lead car. The lights change and he floors it speeding off again now in the right most lane. If you know wickham tce then you know it curves to the left as it leaves the valley and enters the Bowen Hills area. Well he's doing about 120ks and for some reason didn't see the road veering left and mounted the median strip. Bits of car and bushes go flying everywhere, doubly horrifying because there is no sound - it felt surreal, and the car continued to plow along the median strip garden before he finally got enough control to get off INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. The driver remounts the median, loses more of his car's body, and makes it into the correct side. He never got under 60 km/h during this whole process. I think, surely he will pull over and take stock of the situation. But instead he floors it once again and turns right down a side street I've never been down. Thinking I would go help him I prepare to pull into it as well but he puts his foot down and obviously has no intention of stopping. I think to myself that I wish I had got his plates because he is a danger to people around him. I just hope he didn't have another accident. He was surely drunk or so drugged up that he could not keep the car going in a straight line. It scares the crap out of me because he could so easily have hit oncoming cars or pedestrians. From noticing he was obviously a drunk driver, to watching him do severe damage to his car was about 45 seconds. Quote
stevo_gj Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 Yeah possibly I guess. But he was dressed up like he'd been out, and the car was wandering like he was having trouble focusing. Would imagine a joy rider wouldn't nearly run red lights and hit parked cars? Quote
S30Mike Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 far out, i would have tryed to follow him and i would have called the cops right away. That so damn dangerous. He must have been plastered. Quote
nizm0zed Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 damn right i would have followed him. I have seen a drunk driver in peak traffic once, and i followed him and got on the phone to the cops. took them about 5 minutes to get a car into my area and pull him over. Quote
Mick280zx Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 It's a bloody worry isn't it.... they're out there. Quote
