Hi All

With colouring and finishing now starting to occupy much of my time for my 71 240Z resto, I have a question regarding OEM finish.

Can anyone tell me how the factory finished the wheel wells on these cars? Were they body colour or black? Did they have stone guard (that rippled looking paint) painted onto them and then body colour over the top? Where they tarred?

I am wanting to complete the car in the correct factory finish and I note that cars that even appear to be genuine 432's have different arch treatment. I note Tomitaku's car has the factory colour, which is my preferred option, however I want to know what the factory did.

Thanks all.

Im 75% sure that they had the "chook shit" stipple finish and painted body colour, the stipple finish is actually the bituminious deadener.

can someone (with grey hair) confirm  ???

Im also following your paint postings closely  ;D

I remember when Rob at the Z Factory used to restore the ones heading back to Japan..he used to paint them in the black "stoneguard" in the wheel wells and in particular points on the rad support panel (just in normal black though) when viewed from the front. Underneath from just behind the firewall to the petrol tank.
