xs180sx Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Hi I'm going to introduce myself and my 240 before i start post all over this site asking many questions (I will search first of coarse). She is a 73 240z which is defiantly a project car, but in terms of rust and chassis structure reasonable compared to some of the stuff i have seen around and on the net. This will not be a short term project, obviously due to the condition of the car plus the whole 'catch 22' of need money to spend on the car, need to work for that money. But i have a guide line of about 3 years. Which may sound like a lot, but with my work commitments it, isn't. I'm not going to list off a dream list of parts and things i'm going to do to it, but it will definitely be SR20det power. This may not be to the liking of some Z enthusiast, who would like to see it returned to close to original, but that is why i bought this car in the condition it is in because if i could afford something running in reasonable condition i couldn't bare to do any thing but restore it to any thing but original. Plus i'm more of a retrotech fan, e.g. new technology into an old car. But i still want it to look like a classic jdm 240. hopefully this works and you can see the care here http://s645.photobucket.com/albums/uu180/xs180sx/ Quote
RB30X Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Well good luck with it mate, I have seen a couple of SR20 Z examples in my searching for info. I'm hoping this is going to be a turbo SR20. Quote
Cdr Zero Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Good thing with an SR20 is you can mount it close to the firewall and have a lighter, Front-Midship engined car with some decent power too. Quote
xs180sx Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 Cheers guys, Just added info to my profile of location an such, which is Adelaide down south. Yes, once had a 180 (hence my profile name, nissansilvia.com) a few years ago, but now my more practical car is a 1999 Stagea. But I'm missing a performances / thrash car, so have massive desire to get the 240 going. Quote
RBZ 260 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 welcome from another south ozzie as well. i like your plans. im bit like you. old car newer stuff under the bonnet. like the rims reminds me of my 1:64 scale hotweels 240z model same style rims. im also planing to install an sr20det into my 240z but its still quite far away till that gets started and finished. unless i find a cheapish Rb26dett. good luck and if any questions just fire away. Nick aka 240ZR is doing a great Sr20det conversion in his 240z so there are few that are getting done. Quote
Lynton Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Welcome also!! I also have an S15 sits next to my Zed, great motor and power to weight ratio and I know there are a lot of SR20/T in Zeds but my liking for a Zed regardless, is a six cylinder maybe an RB25T I just can't stomach that SR20 exhaust note coming from a Zed.........great project though all the same, keep motivated to the very end, S15's are cheap enough now to buy and thrash keep the Zed a Zed.........Just my 2cents worth Lynton Quote
dougybe Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Welcome. That certainly is a project! I like your wheels Quote
