carl2609 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Hi all, looking to upgrade the brakes on my 240Z. I believe Hilux 4 pots bolt straight on. Anyone want to sell a pair?? Does anyone know where to get some in Sydney?? Cheers Carl Quote
sco_aus Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Go and check out some 4wd forums like 4wdaction, outerlimits, overlander etc and see if anyone is wrecking a '80s through '90s hilux. Make sure they have the S12 stamp on the side of them. Yes they do bolt straight on and are good, though you will probably need to upgrade your brake MC to 15/16th to suit. But do remember they are quite heavy.. Quote

sco_aus Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I found it too spongy and when pushed hard for a few hard corners went to the floor. Quote
Mr240z Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Hey Carl there's always hilux caliper's on Ebay.. I just got a set for $120 del..They come up every other week.. If you need to throw a rubber kit though them I've got the part number if you need it.. Try same wreckers that do hilux parts you'll get a set for around that price.. Have a look at this write up with step by step instructions and pictures. Toyota S12-8 Brake Upgrade The stock calipers on 70 to 78z's can be upgraded by bolting on Sumitumo S12-8 calipers from early 1980's Toyota 4X4 trucks. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/toyotabrakeupgrade/index.html Paul Quote

nizm0zed Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 remember that you may need to upgrade the rotors too. there is a sticky thread on the brakes/suspension section. Quote

Lynton Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Does that mean an upgrade of wheels to fit as well? Lynton Quote
