260Coupe Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Guys My Zed come back from Rankins Restorations in Bayswater after undergoing an engine bay refresh, some rust was cut out of the lower radiator cross member and surface rust treated under the brake master. A superb job and for very reasonable $$$ considering the fiddly work. The battery tray was unpicked and sand blasted and the surface rust removed and treated before a repaint. Whilst the car was in the shop I have rubbed back all the brake lines, polished, clear coated and rezinced all the plated parts, stripped and repainted the brake booster and retaped the wiring loom......so all under bonnet stuff should be like new. Reassembly commences shortly Quote
ade Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Looks like a good job. Have you had much work done with these guys ? And would you recommend them ? I have some panel beating to be done, trying to find a good job at a reasonable price. Anyone else have experience with these guys ? Ade Quote
260Coupe Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 Ade I had the Zed in their shop two years ago for a bare metal restoration, they specialize in Alfas so they know how to fix rust properly ! My Zed had the rust in the usual spots, both sills, rear hatch, front guards etc and they did an excellent job and the final finish was excellent.......hence why I took the car back to them to do the engine bay. They have resto'd a couple of Zeds now and a number of Datsun roadsters so they are familiar with the product (they say Zeds are much easier to repair then Alpha's) Yes I would certainly recommend Rankins.......give Paul a call on 9729 0622 cheers Alan Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted March 10, 2009 Administrators Posted March 10, 2009 Look fantastic good to know Rankins is good at this sort of work. Quote
RBZ 260 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 looks briliant.i like the colour. do you have a paint code for that. let me know. Quote
260Coupe Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 Paint Code is 302 leaf green...........it looks somewhat brighter in two pack from the original paint which I think was acrylic........I remember the original clear coat peeling off the roof like cellophane when I first bought the car 20 years back Quote
