Best way to find a project Z?

So, as it is, I've scoured CarSales and Drive, and there's not really much there in the way of a project car. I mostly just want a 2-seater rolling shell in reasonable condition, and would prefer not to spend more than 3k. I'm planning to put an RB20 or an SR20 in it, so I don't care if it has an engine or not.

 

Am I dreaming? Can I get a reasonable shell for that price?

for a rolling shell, 3k should be pretty on the money, you can find some in primer already for around that sometimes.

 

Ozdat is your friend - www.ozdat.com. Keep an eye out, if there ain't one now, one will come up sooner or later. I found my car (which admittedly wasn't the BEST buy, but I've seen cars a lot rustier, mine was mostly accident damage) for $2000, which had running l26 and auto in it, and came with a couple of spares, including a complete L28 EFI motor and 280zx five speed gearbox, and one or two panels.

Have you been and seen the guys at Zworks in Mordialloc ? They have got heaps of shells down there and stacks of wrecks sitting around... Might pay to get in touch with them !

I spotted a black 260 at a servo in Preston (melb) one night about 6 weeks ago, had exhaust and wheels but it was an auto, the guy behind the counter said it was for sale and its a staff members car who was going to be there the next day..... I'm going out that way today so if its still there i'll check it out.

Was that the servo on the corner of Chifley Drive and Bell Street? I saw a green 2+2 there the other day, and I think I may have seen the black one before too.....
