stevo_gj Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Hey gang, I get back from the mines on saturday and would be keen to have a bit of a blat in the Z before christmas day. I'm free pretty much any time between Saturday and Christmas day. Also you'll get to see my new personalised plates Merry Christmas Steve Quote
Zedback Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Hey Stevo, How did you go at the mines? I would have like to go for a run Sunday but I've just started pulling the gearbox out. Sick to death of it jamming when changing across the 'H'... I've got a spare to swap in. Assuming I get it changed over Xmas, we should organise a run up through the Gold Coast hinterland. Nice and twisty and it's cooler too! Merry Xmas, Mike Quote
stevo_gj Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 Mines has been good. Done a few projects and have had a lot of exposure to the protocol and attitudes in a mining environment. Coal prices have plummeted so Xstrata has shut the sister mine to the one I work at and 130 contractors have lost their jobs. Lucky I'm just a scholarship student I'm definitely keen for a gold coast hinterland run after xmas, anyone else up for it? Quote
Jospef Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hey, Steve. So I hear you know my sister? Haha, small world. Quote
stevo_gj Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Hey hey Small world indeed... How are you finding Z ownership so far? Quote
Jospef Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 The zed is having a few problems. I think it has a blown head, so that's a bit of a hassle. Plus the paint needs to come off asap, starting to get some surface rust. It's turning into a project car after all. Quote

If you're planning on getting it done by a shop give me a shout if you find any places to do a decent rust removal and touch-up. I've been scouting around for the previous three weeks - doesn't particularly help that I'm lacking an installed engine/gearbox/interior so i can't really take the car anywhere to get a quote and obviously the christmas/new years situation doesn't help Quote

It's nothing too serious, so I should be able to manage it. I don't know of any places in Brisbane that can help you either. Sorry. Good luck though. Quote
orange-Z Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I had to get some rust repair work done to pass the safety inspection about 6 months ago. It was hard to find a place in Brisbane to to a relatively small rust job. I eventually used 4H Smash Repairs in Darra. The rust was below the drivers door in the sill. They cut it out and replaced the metal then matched the paint. I can't tell where the new paint ends and the old begins and the old paint is old. He charged me $550 and I am very happy with the work. I hope that this helps. Quote
cathartik Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I'll have to give them a call - thanks a bunch for the tip mate Quote
