datsfreak Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Hi guys, is there a Australian source for the adapter plate to fit the 84 nonturbo 300zx rotors to 240z hub? There is a couple of sources in the US , but id prefer to buy here. see at: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104735 THis would be easier then the s13 swap wouldnt it? thanks Quote
NZeder Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Another option is the Mini (as in new Mini aka BMW Mini rotor) rotor and no spacer at all. You do need to have the rotor redrilled for 4x103 PCD and the centre hole machined out to 81mm so it will bolt up to the 260z hub (just get some 260z hubs) job done - rotor in the same location and same spec (well close enough) 300zx non turbo rotor = 274mm x 22mm thick and 35.5mm total hat height = space required to get the offset right for toy 4x4 calipers Mini Cooper R53 rotor (DBA 542) = 276mm x 22mm thick and 44mm total hat height = no spacer If you don't want to use a 260z hub and need a rotor for the 240z rotor you could look at the following rotor Honda Legend KA3 rotor (DBA 185) = 282mm x 21mm thick and 51mm total hat height. You will need to turn the rotor down to 274-276mm increase the centre bore from 64mm to 81mm and redrill for 103mm PCD. The 103 PCD is what the 240z/260z hubs use to bolt the rotor to the hub from behind. The wheel PCD is 114.3 The reason for the above rotors is that they are all 4 bolt = easier to redrill for the new mounting PCD I hope this info helps - or you could just have a local machinist/cnc place make you a spacer and get the 300zx rotors just be warned they are becoming harder to get in this part of the world. datsfreak Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 thanks Nzeder.. you have got me thinking--ive downloaded the dba book printed it and looking at what can be made fit. the s13 silvia 280mm(280 X49 hat X 22 thick) rotor is attractive as there is a big aftermarket scene with those cars so nice drilled/slotted ones seem to be cheap. Ill need to go to 260z struts first but thats no big deal. Also depend on what the machining is worth also i guess-cant be too bad i hope. wait.. if running a 22mm ish rotor with hilux caliper , whats the ideal hat height for the 240z hub and 260z hub? Quote
PZG302 Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Another option for a rotor swap maybe the TP Magna rotor. This is what I use on my circuit racer, however I use Willwood 4 spot calipers on this setup, so mounting brackets have been welded to the standard ones to line the calipers up. Rotor should be pretty close to fitting though. Fits straight over the hub, all you need to do is get it redrilled to suit the Z PCD and a little machining of the hole in the centre to clear the hub. Check the DBA catalogue to make sure it would be suitable for your application. Quote
luvemfast Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Best advise is to look through your DBA catalogue. I have an S130, they will differ from S30 cars. I have used Mitsubishi 3000GT rotors 296 X 30 thick. Just had to redrill and bore ID out. Offset and hat width were close enough for me to use making a custom bracket. Also look at the Nissan Navara rotor, they were my second choice. 296 x 28 from memory. Quote
