OZ001 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 im just wondering what set of coilovers will fit on a 280zx that doesnt need any modification... e.g would nissan S13 coilovers fit on a 280zx? Quote
luvemfast Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 The rears are an easy mod, but the fronts need more attention. I did look into this at some point as I heard the same stories as you. Put it in the too hard basket. Quote
OZ001 Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 alright i did some long hard research but this is all i came up with for the 280zx coilovers. (this is from my contact from japan) "apparently" DR30 RS turbo front coilovers or suspension fits into the 280zx front like a glove, most people in japan use the DR30 as a donor to the 280zx... my friend is trying to get photos but he lives on a different island . so my only problem is the rears, the problem with rears are that you have to get them modified or actually buy one thats actually made for the 280zx. well im still searching for more answers, i might be heading down to japan this year somewhere down the line... see what i can grab over there. if somebody knew this already and if this is a repost then im sorry and abit slow Quote
OZ001 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 hi here's an update on suspension for the zeds. this is a japanese website. http://translate.google.com.au/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.r30.co.jp/other_line.html&ei=6x0fSqvmEcmTkAXN5q2SDQ&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.r30.co.jp/other_line.html%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG Quote
micks280zx Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 YES they will. I have done this mod. The only bad point is that the ball joint is at a 45' angle so you can't lower it too much. I should have some pics this arvo if you like. Quote
xa1973 Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 YES they will. I have done this mod. I should have some pics this arvo if you like. That would be good Mate............. Quote
micks280zx Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 What i did with mine was. I used the std 280zx control arm and drag link. But you will have to work somthing out with the tie rod ends. There a tad bit short. I got S13 rose joints and made a adaptor from that to the rack end. Other wise its a stright bolt in. Here are some old photos my camera shat it self today. What you will see is S13 4 stud disk with a z32 caliper. Don't do this the caliper hangs 1/2 way off the disk. You might be able to use a larger disk with the 4 stud patturn. but i don't know what off. i just got my self a S13 brake adaptor see here... ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/S13-S14-240SX-Caliper-Brake-Upgrade-300ZX-Z32-12-75_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem2ea3835f3dQQitemZ200311791421QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories ) and put on S14 hubs (There 5 stud 114.3 x 5) and put on 350Z disks (12.75" wide ones. NOT BREMBO) with the z32 calipers. I also used a S14 master cylinder (Becarful the front and rear lines are arse about to the std 280zx one) with a 1983 280zx brake booster. I am trying to find a rear end of a S2 (1982 - 83) so i can do a rear 5 stud convert with a z32 rear calipers and Z31 disks. So that so be sweet. Quote
