Hi and thinks for the help with my last problem.

i am now wondering what this part is on my Nissan Patrol Mq engine bay with L28 engine (i know its not a 240z or 260z but throught that you guys might know since it has a L28 "very niice" ;) ), i think it is a manifold pressure sensor but could be wrong, as im installing a jaycar programmable ignition timing system.

it has 2 electrical connectors and has a vacuum hose that goes to the manifold, also im missing a hose off it too which io circled in yellow in the picture does anybody know where that hose should connected too.

i hop ths is a manifold sensor so that i dont have to hunt around at wreckers to find one or find a MAP sensor

ok looked thru the manual in the A/C section and i have found it.

its a F.I.C.D Fast Idle Control Device. does anyone know where the vacuum hose that im missing should connect too??

You almost answered your own question there..... Where do you get a vacuum source from an engine? The inlet manifold! There should be a small hose connection there where the hose connects to. If you have the manual, it should show that also.

Oops! I missed that! You did mention that in your first question. Are those Patrols carbied or EFI?

It's the Liquid cooled infrasonic wave pulse generator that was a factory option...

I think the time away from your Zed is frying your brain!

zedman240 it has one hose already connected to the manifold but dont know where the missing hose should goto and i have looked in the manual but no luck

A typical fast idle device will have one hose going into the manifold somewhere on the engine side of the throttle butterfly, and one on the air filter side of the throttle butterfly.  Its purpose is to allow air to bypass the butterfly, giving an increase in idle speed.  If you found it in the A/C section of the manual, it is likely designed to compensate for the extra load when the air con compressor kicks in.  In other cars (for example Rover V8s with L-Jetronic on them) it increases idle speed when the car is cold, and gradually reduces the air bypassing as it warms up (In this case, it is fed with ignition power on one side, earthed on the other, and a bimetallic strip inside the unit heats up over time to close it off.)

As asked before, is it carby or efi?  I don't think Mq patrols had efi, so it will most likely be only for the air con, and will either be fully open (when powered via the A/C clutch), or fully closed (when the compressor cuts out).

In that case, it must connect to the flux capacitor to handle those 1.21 Gigawatts....
