Many years ago i built a nissan 180sx up and a common mod which was overlooked by many was installing a solid steering wheel coupler. Before installing i was skeptical about being able to feel every bump in the road but after installing there was nearly no difference from that aspect but the difference in steering itself was definately a notable improvement! Has anyone done this to an s30 on this forum and did you have as good results as expected?

When I bought my RS30 more than three decades ago the recommendation at the time was to replace both the rubber steering coupler, and the rubber steering rack mounts, with aftermarket hard plastic ones which I bought from a major USA supplier.

Those mods were easily installed and noticeably firmed up the steering response, (not unexpectedly given that the car was by then about 13 or 14 years old so the rubber would have surely aged and mellowed a bit in any case).

Were I to buy another S30 I would do the same again.
