New here, but not to the Z scene - hi everyone

This is a fantastic looking Z car site, I don't know why I didn't search for you sooner. Hope you don't mind me using my pseudonym (mrkaos) instead of my real name but I love zeds, Japanese mass produced precision.

 

I've owned a number of Z cars mainly 240/260s. I own 2 under 500 240z that I am currently restoring, one under 400. I'll get some pictures up when I can but to give you an idea I have been as thorough as I can as this is a ground up rebuild.  To give you some idea, all tar sound deadener was removed and replaced with flexible plastic ripple coat, I have powder coated the suspension parts to assist with cleaning, have a nice R180 slippery diff build for 366 and a worked P90 block and head (ported 44 mm valves), and a rebuilt 260Z 5 sp gearbox, all bolts were re-plated in their correct plating colours, new door latches, hinges, new rubber, new seals - in fact if I could replace it with new parts I did - I'm almost there. The car was painted by an old restorer of Jags and austins. I hope I can drive it while I can still afford the fuel.

 

So as you can tell - I love Zeds.

 

I also own a rare beast, an under 50 build and depending on your perspective of how the 35 odd that I believe were crash tested for Australian compliance, it's an under 20 which I think was originally registered in 1969 and bought from a show of the vehicles directly from Nissan - The Datsun's.  The car was rallied and has a racing background (would appreciate any other info if anyone knows of it). The frame rails on both vehicles were replaced and cold galvanised before being welded back into the car. I'm not sure I can finish this one, I want to, but if I can't I will be looking for a good home for it at the right time.

 

I was an original member of the newcastle Z car club, sydney Z car club for a few years and had a bit of fun at the original meets at Matcham on the Central Coast. One of my Z's was at the original Concourse de Elegance at Darling Harbour (if that means anything), a hot 260Z.  I'm in the market for a nice Z32 if anyone can point the way.

 

But last of all I have to say it's great to be able to virtually hook up with people who have great taste in vehicles like this absolute classic car.

Welcome and thanks, the more the merrier.  Sounds like you know your stuff, always good to have people with your sort of knowledge.
