My 260z is a 2 + 2, I have had it for 5 years and I have never noticed it either. I just went out to get the details to register it on the Z register & that's when I noticed that it had sport stamped on it.

I definately know i don't have one either on my 240Z.  :o

Its just the manufacturers plate.

When i got the AE86 complianced they never gave us a compliance plate either. They said that cars that are post a certain age use the manufacturer codes as VIN numbers and stuff. I've also checked this up on some website about these VIN details and its also true that they just use the manufacturer plate for VIN(=chassis number).
