Wtb: Parts For '71 240Z

I'm after the following bits and pieces for my newly purchased 240Z #1280. It's a matching number car and at this stage I want to keep it fairly original. My aim at this stage is to reunite it with some of its original componentry. Thought I'd post up here before I scrounge on ebay. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Thanks to those that have helped so far. 

 

 

- original gear stick knob

- original gas strut for tail gate

- original wiper blades

- OEM period style wheels (I need these for RWC...interested in anything period...jelly beans, hotwires or old school jap) Anything with RWC tyres as well.

Original door mirror is rare as rocking horse... you know what.. took me 7 years to find 1. LHD cars have the same mirror but the stalk angle is different.

 

Original steering wheels should be available but if you're impatient look at eBay US.

 

Original gear knob, you can buy very good reproductions from ZcarDepot.

 

Rear bumpers OEM are hard to find for a 240z now, but reproductions exist. I had my OEM bumper re-chromed by Vinnies in Dandenong and was amazed at the finish. I personally am not into the repro units.

 

Headlight covers with the Chrome Trim? Good luck I'm still trying to get a set for myself.

A few photos of your car will help your advert and everyone loves to see which car it is.

Repairing an original bumper to get chromed to a decent finish is a LOT of money.
I'd get a quote from a chrome shop to help influence what you will pay for condition.
You will be better paying more for a bumper in GC than one with dings requiring repair.

Depending on your originality needs  repros may be a better option.

For your gear shift knob- specify in your adv original 4 speed or later 5 speed.
Good luck with the mirrors. Repro may be your only cost effective option.

If you have an original radio, make sure you keep it!

My reconditioned bumper cost about $550 to do. However it's all the associated hardware, rubbers and fasteners that add up real quick. However a good chrome finish looks like a mirror. I'll try and get some photos of mine as I was more than happy and the bumper had a good size ding in the left side that is not visible at all.

Mines copped a decent ding...I think its probably worth replacing.

It can't hurt to go to Vinnies and ask them. They will let you know if they think it can be fixed.
