PeteC Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Wanted: a crankshaft pulley / harmonic balancer for a 1970 240Z. Must be the first-year type that has only one belt groove. It's the blue pulley shown in the attached photo. I need it for a first-year Canadian car that lost it's original pulley, and I believe the first-year Australian cars might have been fitted with the same 1-groove pulley that I need. I will include payment for the ship cost to Canada. Thanks! Pete Quote
gilltech Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've seen in NZ & IIRC Australia too, 240Zs & early 260Zs (including my own '74) without factory fitted A/C had single sheave pulleys. And I've noted two different diameters (& therefore weights) of single sheave pulleys on engines I've owned. These pulleys are heavy, would cost a small fortune to post one to Canada. Quote
dat2kman Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Got a couple, Hard to jdge diameter on your pic. I can slip it into a front cover and guesstimate it. Yes, postage from Aus to Canada will be interesting. I'm back in Vancouver next February, f you can wait that lng,,,,,,! Quote
PeteC Posted June 22, 2016 Author Posted June 22, 2016 Hello gilltech & dat2Kman, Thanks for your quick replies. I should have given you more information about what I need. The outside diameter of the front crankshaft pulley/harmonic damper that I need is about 5 and 1/8th inches, or about 130mm. It needs to have a single groove for the fan belt. It also needs to be a harmonic damper, with 2 components, an inner hub and an outer surrounding part with the belt groove, bound together by a thin layer of cured rubber that joins and keeps the two parts together. You can see that aspect in the photo I attached if you look closely, although it's not too obvious. I don't know whether multiple types of these front pulleys/harmonic dampers were made in different diameters, but if you have something that's close to the numbers above I would be interested in buying it. If you could send me a photo of what you have to my email, which is <cain@uwo.ca> I would appreciate it. I understand that postage is high, but I have already bought parts for my car from a fellow in Australia and I understand the expense. I am not in a hurry, so I think the best way to ship would be by surface (sea) parcel. The shipping costs what it costs, and I need the part. By the way, I would consider buying both of your front pulleys if they are suitable since I know someone who is also looking for one of these single-groove pulleys, and I could swap it with him for something else that I need. Looking forward to your replies. Thanks so much. Pete Quote
