L28 Flat Top Pistons

Okay Dokey.  I have an L28 to rebuild.  I need 40 thou oversize flat top pistons for the rebore/hone.  Where in Australia do I buy these?  A local engine builder quotes just over $200 the set if he builds my engine for me. He imports them from Japan.

 

Repco only has dish pistons. Is there a piston commonly used in Australia that does the job?  And NO I don't want to bore the #%^k out of it; or stroke it or whatever. Anyone done a build up lately with some ideas on a piston source that won't ream and bore my bottom end out?

First I'd like to thank you for guiding me to the right part location for my pistons. I live in Melbourne's north.  Must have been quaffing a red at the time to put it in the wrong forum..

 

Sorry didn't mean to offend anyones fragile morality.    I have previously restored Holden/Ford V8 vehicles and found hundreds of different part suppliers for basic drivetrain items at competative prices. No such luck with the L series donk.

 

Now I realise the 240-280 Zed is a tad more exclusive and low volume in Oz than a 351 or a 308.  What I have found is due to the local cottage industry nature of Zed suppliers; prices are often quite high; which has driven me to source a lot of stuff from the USA where sales volumes were high. Granted these entrepreneurs have to make a livng from a minimal number of sales.

 

Some Zed resto bits sold locally are 100's of percent dearer than the USA.  Factor in freight and profit and it becomes quite unreasonable. I base this on 26 years of enthusiastic vehicle resto from big Healeys to Munros and GT's.
