skipz Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 General question about doors and foamy bits… and to anyone that’s replaced their door skins. On the door frame there's a cross bar / side intrusion support / structural member – whatever – that has a foam bit on it. This: When I had my door skins replaced, the piece of foam that goes on the side intrusion / support bar was not replaced – i.e. it’s not there now. I presume it’s there to keep the skin from rattling on the cross bar. Does this matter? Should I try and fit something in there now or not be fussed? Quote
Andrew_L26 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 If I was you I would just get some window sealing tape from your local hardware store (or some sort of adhesive foam tape) It's probably not important but you might as well spend the 4$ to get some foam tape now then get your skin on, the car together and find out your door skin is rattling Andrew Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 8, 2016 Administrators Posted January 8, 2016 You want stuff called Anti Flutter Foam. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/3202-tutorial-door-skin-removal-for-dummies/?p=147970 https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/yK_3eNEvEybJqvejIV9gVFitS8r152G_nPF0nyboUBuG=w596-h795-no I'm pretty sure it goes "off" so you may need to ask for it to be ordered in...Limited shelf life and all that.
