pauly_adams Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 hey everyone im in a bit of a pickle. i cant undo the nut sercuring the cam sprocket to the cam on my head and i was wondering if any one has had this happerned or knows how to remove it. so far i have tryed to put the car in gear while the hand break is on and tryed to loosen the nut, didnt work just ran over my foot so please help me, im out of ideas. cheers pauly Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 23, 2008 Moderators Posted January 23, 2008 I remember the cam shaft has these two tabs somewhere near and along the middle where I used to place a large shifter to hold the cam while an "assistant" undid the bolt. It's been a while tho.... hope it helps Quote
gilltech Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Zedman240 is correct - use a large shifter to capture the central lugs on the cam, but make sure it is very well padded where it rests/bears against the alloy head or whatever the end of the handle presses against to preclude damage. This tip is shown in at least one of the common american guide books on Nissan L-series engine re-builds. Quote
