Riceburner Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I've read in the 'hot rod & race" book about drilling out the oil restrictors in the top of the block that feed the cylinder head. My current engine didn't get this done so it's just the stock size. I haven't had any issues yet but the engine only see's 7000rpm. 76 deg works high lift cam internally oiled, Kameari high volume oil pump. Just wanting to know how many people carry out this mod and what results you've had? With the new engine potentially seeing higher rpm is this worthwhile and are the any extra supporting mods required to make it work? I gather it's just the one in the middle of the block and the one at the front? Quote
dat2kman Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Yes. Do it. And run the higher volume ZXT pump Follow drill size increase as per "How to,,," Quote
blu260z Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Hey guys Is this something that could be applied to a street engine Or is it unnecessary? Do you need the high volume pump? Any chance you could put up the write up on this topic Gareth ? Thanks Quote
dat2kman Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 For regular/spirited street use, no need to do this, or fit the high vol pump. You aren't gonna be running about between 6000-780 rpm all way to shops and back, nor a brisk run on the twisty bits. On rebuild just pay attention to all bearing clearances, within or under tolerance, the engine will have very adequate oil supply. Quote
blu260z Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Thanks mate. They are pretty strong engines Quote
