Wanted to know if someone could give me some incite as to what diff this is, (as is r180?)

I have goggled it and found heaps of info but nothing about old diff's with the BIG K in the casting.

Diff is out of a 1970-71 240z and has 3.54 ratio

Is it original or has some swapped it out of something else?

That is an R180. I've read that R180's marked with a K are from later model 200sx or something.

My 73 240 had a K on it's R180 as well.Out of my 3 R180's, I think only one doesn't have the K

The very early R180's didn't have the 'K' stamped on them.

The 3.54 came out of various car's - possibly out of the auto 240K's?

"Newer R180s are availabe from the 84-88 200SX and have a[glow=red,2,300] large K [/glow] cast into the top of the housing. They can be used in the Z with some modifications. The newer diffs use a stub shaft that plugs into the diff and is retained by a circlip, and the older diffs used a bolt in stub shaft."

About 7th paragraph down, then goes on to explain  "Modification procedures to convert new K R180 to bolt in stub shafts"

Posted the link for other peoples sake as well, it's a good read.
