aircobra Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 have asked nat0 to make me a copy, but just in case someone knows of one of these somewhere removed from my "uboat" 240 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 28, 2015 Administrators Posted April 28, 2015 I'm guessing your S30z is a 73 model? Looks like that support is toasted. Quote
aircobra Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 plated 71 as far as i know, there are 3 types - the 240, 260 ( just deeper front rail) and late260/80 with the deeper rail and different cutouts since the airhoses didn't run from the panel anymore also contains a clue to the debate about the black paint - looks like the frotn was painted black at the factory, Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 29, 2015 Administrators Posted April 29, 2015 Weird, that rad support has the hump at the top where the bonnet shuts. Which usually has a rubber seal across it. My 70 and 72 don't have this piece, but my 73 240z did. I don't have better photos at this stage but here is my 72. Here is my old 2+2 (260z) which was 75 year. This is after it was bent but you can see the top of the radiator support has a rubber seal. This was obviously added to help aid with cooling and create a high pressure area in front of the radiator and low pressure on the other side to get air moving through it. So if your car was plated as a 71 I'd be suspect that it hasn't already had a new rad support at some point in it's life. With regard to the front radiator support and black paint from factory. Yes they did, but only the bottom half. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/42150-what-color-did-datsun-paint-the-front-of-the-radiator-support/ Post #10 here is the best example. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/42150-what-color-did-datsun-paint-the-front-of-the-radiator-support/?p=379452 Quote
