Doin have just swapped my L28t for a na L28 with twin carbies. I have someone who is interested in my turbo motor but I have no idea what it's worth. It has been rebuilt (not sure how long ago) it has definitely has an aftermarket cam. It comes with standard loom, ecu, inlet manifold, turbo and exhaust manifold. It does have an intercooler and piping ( piping has not been professionally done by the looks of it. I have no history on the motor except the guy I bought the car off said it did a 11 second quarter mile  with NOS. So not knowing anything else what would guys recommend for a fair price for both seller and buyer.

Thanks.

Just paid $900 and a swapped a set of 40mm sk carbs for a complete set up from pumps to exhaust with ems ecu and rb25 turbo

So,,, on NOS and , what, 11 sec 1/4's?

Motor may have had a bit of a hard life.

Still be around the $2k figure, if it's correct L28T bolt-ons, not some cobbled up thing sing L20A-T manifolds.

Yeah apparently 11 sec 1/4s. No proof. I say it it got driven hard but not for long. All the other mods (brake upgrade, wheels and tyres) look brand new. I assume it has the correct bolt ons. How do I tell. The ecu does say r30 skyline on wrecker writing.

R30's came with L20 engines. Put up a picture and i will tell you if its a proper l28et or not. They have larger intake manifolds and p90 head

I'm not really onto speed with computers and uploading photos. But it as an f54 block with a p90a head. The engine number starts with L28 so I assume it is a L28.

R30 Skyline? As marked on ECU?

My guess is the intake mani and exhaust mani was taken off a R30 that uses the smaller L20A engine, and bolted onto a P90/F54 280 ZX atmo engine. Those manis are small ports.

It'll work fine.

The giveaway will be if it has the correct L28Turbo distributor.

The L28 Turbo ECU runs twin PCB's inside it

I have one here, ex USA

To get it all to work really well,, consider an aftermarket ECU, and a bigger TB, a better quality TPS, and run MAP sensor, not the restrictive AFM.

Thanks for the info. Is there any markings or numbers on the manifolds that will help me identify what it is. I gather if it is the l20 bolt on gear it will effect the value a bit? The guy who is after it mainly wanted the turbo gear.

Nissan had all manner of casting markings on things, only way to tell is to pull it off an compare pirt sozing.

Being a pressurised system it's no great concern, just up the boost a few pounds!

In Japan the Govmint had thos thing about engines bigger than 2 litre hence the Fairlady X, or whatever its supposed to ge called and other sedan type cars ran a 2 litre, with turbo.

With such small bores and short strokes, they got away with a shallw dish piston and fairly effcient but lw cc chamber size heads.

You take one f those 2 litre heads and stick it on a flat top piston 2.8-3.0 litre bottom end, and you have over 12:1 compression!

But on a 2.0, its more like 9:1 and low boost, hence the manifolds didnt need to be huge.

There was an old thread on here from a young fellow here in Qld that did the L20ET swap onto an atmo L28, he could not understand why it didn't work so great, then he stuck a dico potato on it, and it all turned to crap, he's gone, car got re-engined back to normal, and sold off. Exercise cost him about $10,000,,,,

Thanks for your help guys. Looks like it is l20 turbo and manifold, l24 na inlet manifold and ecu bolted to an L28t.
