Anyone wanna guess what my next move or problem is?

My 2+2 has been sitting for 10 months, got it out drove it and noticed temp goes 3/4 instead of usual 1/2 point

- I flushed coolant, still high

- fitted new thermostat, still high

The only thing I know is highway driving brings the temp closer to half and top rad hose is hot bottom hose is fairly hot too but bottom of radiator feels cooler?

Guage faulty ( resistance issue)

Borrow a laser/infrared type thermal heat gun, check thermostat housing, top of radiator, bottom of radiator, and bottom inlet into engine.

If not alarmingly high, maybe guage?

When was radiator rodded out last? ( not just "flushed" but top and bottom tanks sweated off, and tubes brushed/rodded out.

Years of gunk, silicon, rust chunks, gasket bits, etc, all contribute to the thin tubes getting blocked.

I don't have an IR gun but what I did do is jump the temp wire from the 2+2 to the rally car and the temp still went over 1/2 so I can only guess the water is getting warm, rad looks clean but  either its blocked or the pump isn't working well.

Hi,

Without the IR gun just get the engine warm then switch off. Place hand at the top of the radiator on the finned section, then place at the bottom of the finned section. If it has a build up of sediment in the bottom restricting flow you will be able to feel a difference in the temp in your hand.
