I have a brand new ATi balancer and it's massively under driven. Pretty much doesn't charge at idle.

Thanks Jake, they look like a nice piece but I only want the alternator under driven.

Found these on Yahoo Japan but have no Idea if they are stock, over size or under size?

Generally with a race motor you want to slow the water pump down a bit too for high RPM work don't you?

Yes.

Hence why under run balancer pulleys are commonly used.

My ATI unit gave me issues at the start, but I've sorted them out now.

When cold at idle, it doesn't charge.

What's the % the ATI balacer under driven by Jake?

I have an LD water pump, also a water restrictor after the thermostat to stop high rpm cavitation and limit max flow. It's been bullet proof so far, so I only want to fiddle with the alt pulley. With the 4.37 I'll be using a few more revs.

I can't remember sorry, but you can get different amounts. My crank pulley looks smaller than the water pump pulley.

You should be able to get a pulley from any automotive electrical re-builder, especially one that specializes in alternators. It just needs to be larger than the stock pulley to slow the alternator down.

You could also look at other stock vehicles for donor pulleys.

You are okay with putting a 30 year old balance on your motor? I was looking at my L24 one the other day and it had a crack all the way from the edge of the inner bit going up towards the outer edge, about 3cm from the middle. Would have been exciting if it went all the way...

Checked the alt pulley on my spare LD28 motor. Looks like this could be a winner, measures about 74mm.

Sorry, I should have written it a little better and typed Aternator and not just alt. No way would I use an original bonded pulley/balancer that would make for a big bang. I've got a BMW 8" type, it's ok for now maybe a Kameari or ATI when the new motor gets done.
