phillay Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 hi everyone, I've removed my L24 and put in an L28 into my 240z. Tried starting it today, fuel is there, but it's not producing spark. The motor has an electronic dizzy, and it didn't have the ignitor module so I purchased one from the z shop. wired it up (there was 2 wires within the dizzy it was really short but I somehow managed to get it connected to the bottom of the ignitor. The other two wires were on the top of the igniter with B and C labeled on each of the terminals. B went to the + side of the coil C went to the - side of the coil on the + side of my coil I also have a constant 12v to power the coil. (I am not sure where the source of this 12v is from.) and on the - side of the coil, I have a wire which is used to pulse an autometer tacho and another wire which is earthed. so new spark plugs, new fuel, I can see fuel is being supplied because it was spewing from the banjo bolt which I had forgotten to properly tighten up. I took a spark plug off and had it touching the motor and gave it a crank and no spark at all. Anything else I should check? Quote
Linton Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 top of module the connectors are T shaped, on mine the top is minus to coil, up and down is + to coil this has wire to genuine tacho as well, can you put the original dizzy in to get running, then you will know if it is the electronic side causing the problem Quote
phillay Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 figured out what happened, the coil itself was no good, fortunately for me the motor came with a coil which I never had thought to use, plugged it up and it fired into life but it's spitting petrol everywhere. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152876520694328 it's also really loud and won't respond to the throttle. not sure what to do now.
