GK510 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I'm looking at getting a couple of replacement gauges (particularly a tacho and a temp/oil pressure) and while looking around online I've noticed that there seems to regularly be various gauges popping on ebay etc. in the US. Does anyone happen to know if there is anything that would cause a problem if fitting gauges from a LHD car into a RHD? I'm more thinking along the lines of physical fitment problems such as bezels/surrounds being on the wrong angle or rear mounting points being in the wrong spot. I did a bit of searching on here and some other forums but couldn't find any answers. Anyone done this before? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 1, 2014 Administrators Posted November 1, 2014 I don't believe there is any difference. It should be exactly the same. Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Model for model, they are pretty much the same. There was some variation to the type face, (and IIRC some speedos started at 5mph), but later260/ 280Z gauges have different mounting arrangements. However it is possible to take a 260Z gauge out of its case and mount it in a 240Z case so that it bolts back into the dash correctly. Quote
GK510 Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Cool. Thanks for the confirmation guys. I had the feeling that I could just swap over the internals if need be. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 1, 2014 Administrators Posted November 1, 2014 If this is for your early 240z, there are some minor differences in the early gauges vs later ones. Oil and temp gauges have an extra center delimiter that was removed in later versions. The speedo starts at 20mph and I think there is a couple of other minor changes. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 1, 2014 Administrators Posted November 1, 2014 Best photo I have at the moment of the early gauge with additional delimiters in the center. Quote
GK510 Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 They are for the early 240. I've managed to source a full set of gauges that are supposedly out of another early model so should be all good. They seem to be the same as what is currently in the car and also match the pic you posted. Not that I really needed a full set of gauges but it can't hurt to grab some early spares while they're available. Quote
