Firstly I apologize if I have put this in the wrong spot, but it had to do with the engine, sort of

I have a 1980 280zx and I wish to clean up my intake manifold and remove the EGR and excess vacuum lines and I've also seen it might be possible to remove the idle speed control but i'm not sure, i have tried to search for info on how to do this but the only guide I have found on the net doesn't really go into detail about how to do it. I would like to know can I remove all this or do I have to keep it, and if I can can anyone give me an in depth explanation of what i can keep and what I can toss

This is The intake that came on the zx

and i want to know what of all this I can remove

And this is another intake that i cleaned and painted and this is the one i would like to use

You can blank off and remove a fair bit, but the ecu needs signals from a few items., and sends signal to a few things.

One thing, replace the stock return line fuel pressure reg, with a decent aftermarket pressure reg.

Things like exhaust EGR, and crankcase breather are eady to block off/blank/plug, but run a breather hose from crankcase into a tin, an old olive oil tin is a good choice, but paint it black, so it looks "right" !

One quick question, is the fuel pressure regulator for a carbied car???

Looking at the numbers, if the outer scale is in lbs/inch2 then you might be in trouble as the EFI works at a much higher pressure, for a standard injection system at about 43lbs.

If you give me an email address I have a 280Z injection troubleshooting manual that maybe of some help for you.

I'm not entirely sure about the fpr type but it came off my l24et skyline and worked fine on that

Thats a rising rate fuel reg, for turbo application.

Wont work on Atmo injection.

Get yourself something like a Mapladi adjustable, set it up on a rolling road dyno tune, so that it sends fuel back to rear at whatever pressure setting the fuel injection system demands, at high rpm.

Compared to a stock FPR, a aftermarket one can give you an extra 10-15 hp at wheels.
