OZZ240 Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Would a coil breaking down cause these same issues? Quote
nizm0zed Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Yep, A coil on its last legs can definitely fail under a high heat/load situation. Most frustrating bit about that is it'll usually measure ok, so it can be a pain to diagnose. Quote
Lynton Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 likewise a fusible link could do this, keep the engine running and give the wires a wiggle if faulty engine will stall lynton Quote
sexual_sushi Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Thanks for all the tips and ideas. The coil is quite new (only a year or 2 and I don't drive the car much). Hard to test the fuel situation as it is now running completely fine so I would have to wait for it to breakdown again to check. I couldn't check anything in the tunnel because you aren't allowed out of your car Last night I replaced the ignition module with a spare and put on a new dizzy cap and rotor button as I just happened to have them lying around. Didn't take it for a long drive as it was late, so will test out more tomorrow. But it ran better than usual and didn't miss a beat Quote
sexual_sushi Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Ah yes Lyton, I did think fuse when it happened but then kinda forgot to check them once it was running again. Will also check tonight Quote
